Howard Stern Joins ‘America’s Got Talent’ (Video)

The shock jock will replace Piers Morgan as the NBC talent search series' newest judge

Howard Stern is the new judge on "America's Got Talent."

Stern will continue doing his radio show, and live tapings of "AGT" will move to New York to accommodate him, NBC said Thursday.

Stern broke the news he would be the new judge, replacing Piers Morgan, on his Sirius XM radio show Thursday.

Landing Stern is a major coup for the show. The shock jock has flirted in the past with judging a show like "American Idol." But his involvement with "AGT" immediately raises the profile of the series, a modest summer hit for NBC.

"Howard Stern's larger-than-life personality will bring a thrilling new dynamic to 'America's Got Talent' starting this summer," said Paul Telegdy, president of alternative and late night programming for NBC. "He’s a proven innovator and his track record in broadcasting is truly remarkable. Howard is very passionate about this show and is fully committed to its future success."

Stern told his listeners he was signing the "AGT" contract as he was doing his show Thursday, and also promised some fancy new threads for his new job, saying, "In order to up my credibility, I will wear a suit.”
