Huffington Post Expands Into Korea

HuffPost Korea is the latest international media partnership

Huffington Post and Hankyoreh Media Group have joined journalistic forces to produce HuffPost Korea, the companies announced on Monday.

“We’re delighted to add a Korean edition to the HuffPost family, and to be partnering with Hankyoreh Media Group,” said HuffPost founder Arianna Huffington. “By joining forces, we’ll be combining Hankyoreh’s independent spirit and history of fighting for press freedom with the power of the HuffPost platform, telling the stories that need to be told and — just as important — inviting Koreans to tell their stories themselves.”

“We wish to build a new platform for a new era that makes readers genuine participants in the creation and understanding of news,” said President and CEO of Hankyoreh Media Group Yang Sang-Woo. “I believe HuffPost Korea can be a new window bringing global news to Korean people faster and more accurately than ever, and also a means for spreading important Korean news across the globe.”

HuffPost Korea will be the latest HuffPost international vertical to launch with a local news partner, joining HuffPost Deustchland, which launched in October, Al Huffington Post Maghreb, and versions in Spain, France and Italy. Another version, in Brazil, is also coming at a date still to be announced.
