Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe Preview ‘Les Miserables’

The stars of Tom Hooper’s adaptation of the hit Broadway musical give us a glimpse of the French Revolution frenzy they’re kicking up

Hugh Jackman says he is thrilled to be co-starring alongside Russell Crowe in the big screen version of "Les Miserables," but the latest set picture from the film shows the "Wolverine" star looking positively miserable.

"Very excited about how the first days of filming are going!! Check out my convict look…but its changing soon," Jackman tweeted. He included an image of himself (right) with a prodigious beard.

The good news is that his character, Jean Valjean, gets to clean up after reforming himself into a successful businessman in the second part of the musical.

Indeed, Wednesday morning Jackman assuaged fans distraught by all that facial hair.

"And yes, the convict beard and hair are gone. Got to shave it off last night!," Jackman tweeted.

The adaptation co-stars Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Sacha Baron Cohen and Amanda Seyfried.

The glimpse at what Jackman and director Tom Hooper are cooking up comes on the heels of a set picture (left) that leaked online earlier this week, showing a steely eyed Crowe on horseback with a hat that would make Napoleon envious.

Like Jackman, Crowe has been actively stoking social media enthusiasm for "Les Miserables." But instead of posting pictures from the set, he has mostly tweeted about the workouts he's currently enduring to get in shape for the role of the obsessive Inspector Javert.

Hey Russell: Nobody cares how many laps you swam. How about tweeting us a picture of the barricade?
