‘Idol’ Ratings Down 10% on Night 2

Show still dominates Thursday night

On its second night, "American Idol" fell 10 percent from its premiere ratings, but Fox says it's happy with the show's overall dropoff of only 12 percent from last year’s premiere week.

The show was down 16 percent in viewers in the 18-49 demo.

"Idol" drew 22.6 million total viewers, handily winning the night. The show's move to Thursday was very good for Fox's showing there: it had its highest-rated Thursday night with regular programming since February 1995.
