Wow. On "It Don't Mean a Thing," the Idols actually seemed to be singing live, a testament to their collective talent! Kris Allen, we've all bought into the idea that you're the "cute one." How about dressing up a little next time?

After the group number, we were all treated to an inexplicable food fight started by Danny Gokey. It (perhaps inappropriately) brought to mind the "sloshing" phenomenon, featured on the HBO series "Real Sex."

Ryan instructed the Idols to go to separate ends of the stage, according to their popularity. Kris and Matt were on one side; Allison and Danny were on the other.  Then he asked Adam Lambert which side he thought he belonged on. Glambert, perhaps in a display of modesty, stepped over to the Gokey/Iraheta side. (Everyone knows that, despite her singing, Allison has no personality and is next to go.)

Idol shocker! "Frontrunner" Glambert actually belonged on the Giraud/Allen side of the vote. Welcome to the Bottom 3, Glambert.

Natalie Cole performed, I guess because her dad was into "standards." If you are still lost, pull out one of your old Christmas albums. It doesn't get more "standard" than that.

Taylor Hicks, winner of Season 5 (and classmate in my sister's biology class back in Alabama!) performed. He was looking much "svelter," and regardless of how boring his song was, one can't deny the magnetism of a "silver fox."

Seacrest sent one Idol in the Bottom 3 to safety. Clearly it was frontrunner Glambert, right? Wrong! It was "dark horse" Kris.

Then comedian/singer/full-of-himself Oscar winner Jamie Foxx performed.  He made the Idols look like professional lip=syncers. Could they at least tone down the pre-recorded overly synthesized vocals? To Foxx's credit, he applauded the Top 5's talent and referred to them as "artists."

Spoiler Alert! Matt, despite his Judges' Save, was the one to go home last night.  Perhaps the bigger shocker, though, was the fact that Adam Lambert was in the Bottom 2.

Dammit. I truly believe that Giraud was the most talented overall.

Who will now go up against Glambert in the finals? Or, considering last night's turn of events, will Glambert even be in the finals?

Tune in next week to find out!

Oh come ON that's just semantics. It's been said repeatedly that the lowest bottom three scores THEN down to the lowest TWO scores. it's been that way for a long time. Besides Kris fans went apeshit and voted after Simon's comments. Adam fans rested on their laurels because he's been dubbed the automatic Idol at this stage. It's a matter of voting, and it's proof that you can't "pass the buck" and just assume someone else is going to vote for you.

Personally, I love the idea of a Adam/Allison/Kris Top 3. Adam didn't do well with that long held note, it was overindulgent. Other than that? It was decent...but certainly not the best of the night OR his personal best either. So, I'm not surprised at all by it.

I thought it was so funny that "Glambert" (love that!) started to walk over to where he thought he should be and Ryan grabs him and heads him over to the bottom 3! Adam really didn't do all that well on that song and he's my least favorite. Don't kill me... I'm entitled to my opinion too all you Koolaid drinkers!

The funny thing is about the food fight is that it was Matt, yes adorable Matt who started it by smearing flour on Danny's back! LMAO I love it that Matt went in quickly, started the food fight, and then got the hell out! That's one smart guy! haha I love him! Danny's just too cheesy for me and he did get just a little too carried away, as did Allison, but I'm sure it was all in good fun. I saw the pic of Danny with his hands on Allison that looked a bit skeevy, but as much as I dislike Danny, I don't think he was copping a feel with millions of people looking on... I'm sure it was all unintentional.

I'd love to see Kris and Allison in the finals. Kris gets better and more interesting each week and Allison's song on Tuesday night blew me away; it was beautiful.

Thank you for pointing out the possibility that Lambert chose the Bottom 3 side, and not the other way around. I'm tired of people calling him "arrogant" or whatever bs.
According to various interviews with Matt today, he was not happy with his performance Tuesday night and was indeed choosing the bottom 3 group.
While i realize that Feeling Good wasn't Lambert's best and most technically perfect, it's still better than others by miles. For him to land in the bottom 2 is such a travesty! Wake up, please, Adam fans. He needs your votes more than anyone else in this competition and he needs it now more than ever.

actually, ryan asked foxx: "did america get it right? these are the bottom 2".

I am a fan of Adam Lamberts and despite people like you (haters) I have purchased his songs and will call in and vote for him. I hope he is the next American Idol but when I consider the 12 year olds on-line and people like you that pass yourself off as journalists on-line you have to wonder.

I'm an avid idol fan, but not a regular "poster" on web sites. However, I simply couldn't leave this one unchallenged.

I have to point out the incredible manipulation that Idol is getting away with. Lambert was NOT in the bottom three. In fact, you can just about be sure he was third; still not good, but not nearly as bad as they wanted us to believe.

I have all of the Idol episodes recorded on my DVR and I double-checked my first impressions. When Ryan told Kris he was safe, he told him to "Join Danny and Allison in the TOP FOUR". He pointedly didn't say top three. And not once did he say Lamber was in fact in the bottom three.

It was a clever way of getting Lambert's fans off their butts to vote for him. I do think his over-the-top style is wearing a little thin and he's not the shoo-in he's been considered by most of us to be. But he was NOT in the bottom three; Kris was.
