Kris Allen might have won “American Idol” but Adam Lambert hasn’t been crying over his #2 spot. Proof: his guyliner remained firmly intact on Sunday night at Hollywood Life’s Young Hollywood Awards, where he picked up Artist of the Year honors from judge Kara DioGuardi and promised that his upcoming cover story in “Rolling Stone” should end all the speculation over his sexuality. (Update: He came out!)

Catherine Hardwicke was also lauded at the event, held in Santa Monica at the Eli and Edythe Stage, and did her best to give back to the young’uns in the crowd, including fellow honorees Ed Westwick, Shawn Johnson, Rumer Willis and Evan Rachel Wood. “Don’t do blow!” she warned -- words of wisdom she picked up at the Chrysalis Butterfly Ball the night before, when she asked attendees, including Annette Bening, Mark Wahlberg, and David O. Russell, for advice to pass along…

Earlier in the day, Miley Cyrus entertained the wee ones at the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation “A Time for Heroes” carnival as she rocked out for the cause. Celeb babies -- including Pete Wentz’s little boy -- took it all in, as did their parents…

Moving along from teen queen to green queen, Cameron Diaz rallied for the environment on Friday night. Diaz showed up to an “eco-garden picnic” -- think vegan hot dogs and benches made from reclaimed wood -- at the Stella McCartney boutique for an outdoor screening of “Home,” a movie that chronicles the sorry state of the world. Also looking to learn: Liv Tyler, Darryl Hannah, Emily Deschanel, Rosario Dawson, Rosanna Arquette, Jessica Capshaw and Charlize Theron, who left soon after getting mobbed by the overzealous paparazzi....

Theron presumably had an easier time handling the scene at “The Hurt Locker” premiere at The Egyptian Theatre right before, as she even stayed for the after-party to chat with her “North Country” co-star Jeremy RennerDrew Barrymore, Justin Long and Zac Efron also kept the shutterbugs busy…

Onto some more premieres. Arsenio Hall supported his longtime pal Eddie Murphy at Saturday’s screening of “Imagine That” on the Paramount lot, while Taraji P. Henson logged some face time with Denzel Washington at “The Taking of Pelham 123” debut at the Mann Village Theatre on Thursday...

Also in Westwood: Francis Ford Coppola, who hosted a benefit for the Film & Television Archive at his alma mater, UCLA, on Wednesday. The Coppola clan, including Eleanor, Sofia, Roman and Christopher, along with Roger Corman, Penelope Spheeris, John Landis, Vincent Gallo, Andy Garcia, Val Kilmer and Alicia Silverstone listened to Coppola wax nostalgic about his college days before showing his latest film, “Tetro”…

Meanwhile, Ben Silverman was busy flexing his political muscle at Mr. Chow’s, where he presided over a din din for San Fran mayor Gavin Newsom, whose movie stah looks could help sway voters in his bid for Governor. This is, after all, the state that elected the Governator. If all else fails, maybe a reality show…

And proving that people in L.A. do go to the theatre: the opening night of “Oleanna” at the Mark Taper Forum on Friday drew the likes of Chris Pine, Chris Noth, original cast member Rebecca Pidgeon, Virginia Madsen, Jennifer Grey and the playwright, David Mamet.
