Here's one way to spend $23 million.

My former boss, Mediabistro's boa-brandishing founder Laurel Touby, and her husband, BusinessWeek media columnist Jon Fine, are going on joint “sabbaticals” to travel.

The new media power couple announced their plans via Twitter, using their accounts as a sort of personal PR Newswire:

In 2007, Touby sold Mediabistro to Jupitermedia -- a Darien, Connecticut-based stock graphics company that owns the Internet.com domain -- for a $23 million, $3 million of which was tied to Touby’s remaining with the company for two years.

Touby, a former freelancer at BusinessWeek, met Fine, then a “Manhattan-based punk rocker turned media reporter for Advertising Age,” at a magazine conference in 2002. They wed two years later.

This means Fine will likely miss breaking the story of the sale of BusinessWeek, something he’s been working rather admirably for months.
