‘Inside Llewyn Davis’ Red Band Cannes Trailer: Folk Music Is a Tough Gig (Video)

New preview of the Coen Brothers folk singer drama demonstrates just how tough it was to break into the music business in 1961

CBS Films has released a red band trailer for Joel and Ethan Coen's "Inside Llewyn Davis," ahead of its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival next week.

Like earlier previews of the film, the newest trailer also focuses on the trials and tribulations of the titular folk singer, played by Oscar Isaac ("Drive"), as he navigates New York's Greenwich Village music scene for a week in 1961.

Carey Mulligan, Justin Timberlake, Adam Driver and Garrett Hedlund also have roles, along with one of the Coen Brothers' favorite collaborators, John Goodman — a busy actor who has appeared in six of the filmmakers' movies to date.

While industry insiders will get to watch "Inside Llewyn Davis" when screened at Cannes, the American public will have to wait until Dec. 6 for a limited release, followed by an expansion on Dec. 20.

Despite the red band warning viewers of a few expletives, the newest trailer is pretty safe for work (PSFW):
