‘Into the Storm’ Trailer Threatens to Blow Audiences Away (Video)

“Final Destination 5” helmer Steven Quale directed up close and personal take on the natural disaster action genre

Airliners and Mack trucks are tossed into the air like toys in the newest trailer for New Line’s “Into the Storm,” an intense, up close and personal take on the natural disaster action genre.

The poor residents of a small town called Silverton are the unlucky recipients of the attention of a barrage of tornadoes that ravage their homes and hiding places over the course of one day. Among the residents under siege are a high school class — on their graduation day — and a father hitching a ride with storm chasers in his quest to reunite with his daughter.

Seems like you should try to hitch a ride with anyone but storm chasers in such a situation, but desperate times call for desperate measures. Richard Armitage, Sarah Wayne Callies, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Arlen Escarpeta, Nathan Kress, Jon Reep and Jeremy Sumpter get the privilege of being bombarded by multiple twisters — four hitting the same target at once — fire tornadoes and more mayhem.

Steven Quale directed “Into the Storm,”, which Warner Bros. is releasing on August 8.
