Investigation Discovery has granted the true crime show hosted by the “Buffy” and “Angel” star another year
Investigation Discovery has renewed “Surviving Evil,” the Charisma Carpenter-hosted series that features stories of victims fighting back against violent attacks.
The “Buffy” and “Angel” star will return as its host for a 10-episode second season. Filming will start in early-2014.
“As one of ID’s biggest hit series of 2013, and one that generated passionate discussion among our viewers, it’s with great enthusiasm that we set our sights on a second season of ‘Surviving Evil,'” said ID's GM, Kevin Bennett, in Wednesday's announcement. “We feel especially lucky to welcome back Charisma, who adds an important layer of depth to the series as a survivor and symbol of female empowerment in Hollywood.”
Carpenter, who herself survived a violent attack at 22, said she's proud to be a part of the series.
“‘Surviving Evil' is relevant and powerful to me, because it offers the rare opportunity to not only show amazing human acts of courage and survival against all odds but to empower our viewers to take charge of their personal safety,” Carpenter said. “That’s something to be proud of.”
Produced by Cineflix, “Surviving Evil” was ID's highest-rated series during the third quarter of 2013 with Adults 25-54 and Women 25-54. “Surviving Evil” also ranked No. 9 when it debuted Wednesday, Aug. 28 at 10 p.m. among cable-supported channels.
