iPhone 5 Will Be Announced Aug. 7 (Report)

Apple's sixth-generation iPhone is expected to have big changes to its design

Apple will unveil the iPhone 5 on Aug. 7, according to a report on Know Your Mobile.

The international gadget blog cited an unnamed "reliable industry source" in a report claiming the highly-anticipated next generation iPhone will be announced during a keynote speech by Apple executives on Aug. 7.

The blog reported earlier this month that Apple pushed forward the release date from October following the success of Samsung's Galaxy S3, which is set to sell 10 million devices this month.

The tech blogosphere has been abuzz with rumors and speculation about the smartphone suggesting a range of aesthetic changes, including a unibody design to a thinner overall device. Internally, the next iPhone is reported to feature an aluminum two-tone back panel and a larger 4-inch Retina display screen.

The iPhone 5 will also be the first to debut Apple's new iOS operating system, iOS 6. The iPhone4S was released last Oct. 4
