Netflix has greenlit “Iron Fist” for a second season. The news was announced during “The Defenders” panel at Comic-Con 2017.

Marvel TV boss Jeph Loeb was running down the production status of the various Marvel Netflix shows, mentioning the on-the-way second seasons of “Jessica Jones” and “Luke Cage” before dropping the bomb.

“And I am pleased to announce something none of them know,” Loeb said, referring to the assembled “Defenders” cast, which is that we will start production on season 2 of ‘Iron Fist’…” with the remainder of the sentence drowned about the the cheering thousands-strong crowd inside Hall H.

The crowd was already riled up because Leob and “Punisher” star Jon Bernthal kicked off the “Defenders” panel with the first ever footage of the Netflix “Punisher” series.

But the mood from there only escalated when Loeb revealed that they would also be showing “Defenders” footage that just so happened to be the same length as the first episode of the teamup series that brings Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and the Iron Fist together — a small-screen, ground-level spin on  what the “Avengers” movies do on the big screen

To be clear, what he meant is that all attendees of the “Defenders” panel would be treated to the entire first episode of the show right then and there.
