Most stars are usually rooting for one or two people — or themselves — to win an Emmy, but not Issa Rae. She’s rooting for every black nominated actor.

When asked who she was rooting for, the “Insecure” creator told a Variety reporter on the Emmys red carpet: “I’m rooting for everybody black.”

Although some people were here for Rae wanting black actors to win for the culture, others were put off by her comments.

“But white people are the racist ones, right?” commented one Twitter user.

The racist accusations kept rolling in.

“YOU ARE AWARE THIS IS RACISM, RIGHT?!” asked another user, tweeting directly at Issa Rae.

Some people began pointing out that black actors rarely win Emmys, so there’s nothing wrong with her comments.

“Every year “99.9%” white people win these awards. But white people mad at her response?” asked one Twitter user.

“Insecure” just wrapped up Season 2 last week and although the 32-year-old multi-hyphenate wasn’t nominated for an Emmy this year, a few other black actors were.

According to the LA Times, 2015 was the first time the Emmys nominated two black actors for the lead actress in a drama series category.
