J.J. Abrams Reveals First Word Spoken in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ (Video)

Director makes shocking revelation on “Jimmy Kimmel Live”

J.J. Abrams revealed the first word uttered in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” on Monday’s episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”

Months of speculation and internet rumors have all led up to this moment. What could the first word be? “Force?” “Jedi?” “KyloRenIsLuke’sson?”

None of the above as it turns out. Abrams let the world in on the secret when he told Jimmy Kimmel that the first word spoken in the movie is: “This.”

Kimmel followed the revelation with a sweeping orchestral score and a massive “Star Wars” font projection of the word on the screen behind him. “Now if you rearrange these letters you can spell ‘Sith,’” Kimmel said. “Does that mean anything?”

To close out the segment, Abrams played a clip from the new film featuring John Boyega and Daisy Ridley‘s characters running from an attack by the New Order.
