Jacqueline Bisset on Bizarre Golden Globes Speech: Blame Scheduling Shifts and Hunger (Video)

“Dancing on the Edge” actress explains her head-scratcher of an acceptance speech

Jacqueline Bisset attempted to explain her rambling acceptance speech at the Golden Globe Awards this year, citing a number of factors such as schedule changes and hunger while speaking to talk-show host Queen Latifah.

After Latifah told the actress — who rambled, cursed, and offered a vague lesson on forgiveness during her acceptance speech for “Dancing on the Edge” — that her speech was “one of the most authentic moments of the entire night,” Bisset rattled off a laundry list of complaints, beginning with the fact that the time of her award was shifted twice on the award show’s schedule.

“I absolutely didn’t expect to win … The time was switched on me,” Bisset said, saying that she was first told that her award would be given out at the beginning of the show, then the end of the show, and eventually at the beginning again. “So then suddenly I was on. And I’m thinking about other things, I’m vaguely paying attention to the show.”

Another possible contributing factor to Bisset’s discombobulated state: She arrived too late for dinner.

“I’m thinking, ‘Where the hell — why didn’t I get my dinner?’ They’d given me a little
sandwich, but they’d closed the kitchen,” Bisset explained, adding that she had been on the red carpet for two and a half hours.
