Ten-episode series features “The Interview” star reinterpreting iconic moments in entertainment

In an upcoming episode of AOL’s “Making a Scene With James Franco,” the actor will reprise his “Freaks and Geeks” role 16 years later.

The new episode, available Sept. 30, will mash up two classic high school TV series, “Freaks and Geeks” and “Saved by the Bell.” Franco will play both Mark-Paul Gosselaar‘s Zack Morris and his original “Freaks” character Daniel Desario as they face off in a musical showdown.

“Making a Scene” sees the experimental star reenacting classic moments from film and TV. Previous episodes have seen him take on “Sex and the City’s” Carrie Bradshaw, and “Breaking Bad’s” Walter White.

The series is executive produced by Vince Jolivette and Jay Davis for Rabbit Bandini Productions, and Eric Day, Mark Koops, and Jennifer Heftler for Trium Entertainment.

Franco will next be seen in Hulu’s “11/22/63,” about a high school teacher who travels back in time to the assassination of JFK.
