James Vanderbilt isn't done with the web slinger yet: he has been hired to write a sequel to "The Amazing Spider-Man," which he also wrote, for Columbia Pictures, TheWrap has confirmed.
Vanderbilt knows the franchise well: In addition to "The Amazing Spider-Man," a reboot of the franchise that Marc Webb is directing, he wrote a draft of an earlier Sam Raimi iteration, "Spider-Man 4."
That movie never was shot.
"The Amazing Spider-Man" has a July 3, 2012 release date. Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Martin Sheen, Rhys Ifans, C. Thomas Howell, Sally Field and Dennis Leary star.
Avi Arad, Matthew Tolmach and Laura Ziskin are producing both "The Amazing Spider-Man" and the sequel Vanderbilt.
Vanderbilt also did work on the script of Columbia's "Total Recall," now in preproduction with an Aug. 3, 2012 release date.
