Jamie Bell Joins Worthington & Mackie on Summit’s ‘Ledge’

Asger Leth will direct the crime drama from a script by Pablo Fenjves and the Hoeber brothers

"Billy Elliot" star Jamie Bell will play Sam Worthington's brother in Summit's "Man on a Ledge," reports Deadline.

Asger Leth ("Ghosts of Cite Soleil") directs the crime drama from a script by Pablo Fenjves, which is currently being rewritten by Jon and Erich Hoeber ("Battleship").

Worthington stars as a cop who is thrown in jail for a crime he didn't commit. After his father dies, the authorities agree to let him out in order to attend the funeral. He uses the opportunity to escape, and winds up on a hotel ledge where he threatens to kill himself.

Bell will play his brother, who just so happens to be planning a jewelry store heist across the street.

Anthony Mackie ("The Hurt Locker") is in talks to play Worthington's former partner on the police force.

There's also a female psychiatrist who plays a key role in the film, but that part has yet to be cast, though Deadline reports that Amy Adams is rumored to be interested.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura is producing with Mark Vahradian and David Ready.

Production is scheduled to begin in November in New York.

Bell next stars opposite Channing Tatum in Kevin Macdonald's "The Eagle." He'll join Cillian Murphy in "The Retreat," and also stars in Steven Spielberg's "The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn."

Bell is represented by WME.
