There’s a time and a place for everything, Megyn Kelly, and as far as Jane Fonda is concerned, your timing could use a tune-up.

Fonda, who was taken aback by Kelly when the “Megyn Kelly Today” host quizzed the actress about her plastic surgery during an interview to promote her Netflix movie “Our Souls at Night,” elaborated on the cringe-worthy moment in an interview with ET Canada on Wednesday, saying that Kelly asked the question at the “wrong time and place.”

Fonda appeared on the show alongside Robert Redford to promote their new Netflix movie, “Our Souls at Night.” After a brief question about the movie and discussion about Fonda and Redford’s long history of sharing the screen, Kelly pivoted to Fonda’s looks.

“You, you’ve been an example to everyone, on how to age beautifully and with strength,” Kelly said before launching into a question about why Fonda doesn’t like talking about any “work” she’s had done.

“We really wanna talk about this right now?” Fonda shot back.

During the ET Canada interview, Sangita Patel asked Fonda, “I was a little bit shocked by her question. Were you shocked by it?”

“A little bit,” Fonda, 79, replied.

“Given the fact that we don’t have a lot of time and Bob is right here, it’s a weird thing to bring up — whether I’ve had plastic surgery or not,” Fonda added. “I have and I’ve talked about it. Seemed like the wrong time and place to ask that question.”

The awkward exchange between Kelly and Fonda was the second time in Kelly’s first week as a daytime host that a celebrity interview has gone south.

“Will & Grace” star Debra Messing said she was “dismayed” by Kelly’s comments during the cast’s Monday appearance on the show, adding “regret going on.”

During Messing’s appearance with her castmates, Kelly asked a “Will & Grace” fan named Russell Turner if he “became” gay because of the show. “Is it true that you became a lawyer, and you became gay, because of Will?” she asked.
