Grammy-winning pop star Jason Mraz has told the producers of the Broadway musical “Waitress”: “I’m yours.”

Mraz, who studied for a year and a half at New York City’s American Musical and Dramatic Academy, will play the romantic lead Dr. Pomatter for a 10-week run beginning on Nov. 3.

The singer-songwriter will make his Broadway debut in the musical, which opened last April and features a score by six-time Grammy winner Sara Bareilles — with whom Mraz recorded the songs “Bad Idea” and “You Matter To Me” on her album “What’s Inside: Songs From Waitress.”

Based on the 2007 motion picture written by the late Adrienne Shelly, “Waitress” is the first Broadway musical in history to have four women in the four top creative team spots. In addition to Bareilles’ score, the show features a book by Jessie Nelson, choreography by Lorin Latarro and direction by Tony winner Diane Paulus.

Mraz has sold 48 million singles, beginning with his record-breaking 2008 hit “I’m Yours.”

“Waitress” follows an expert pie maker in a small town named Jenna (now played by Betsy Wolfe), who dreams of a way out of her loveless marriage with her husband Earl (Will Swenson).

A baking contest in a nearby county and the town’s new physician, Dr. Pomatter, may offer her a chance at a new life, while her fellow waitresses offer their own recipes to happiness.

“Waitress,” produced on Broadway by Barry and Fran Weissler and Norton and Elayne Herrick, begins its U.S. national tour at Cleveland’s Playhouse Square this October.
