Jason Segel Shines as Writer David Foster Wallace in First ‘The End of the Tour’ Trailer (Video)

Jesse Eisenberg co-stars as Rolling Stone writer David Lipsky tailing the “Infinite Jest” author on a 1996 book tour

Jason Segel‘s turn as late author David Foster Wallace earned rave reviews after it premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, and now everyone who wasn’t there can get a glimpse of the “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” star shining in a dramatic role.

The first trailer for the upcoming A24 release directed by James Ponsoldt (“The Spectacular Now”) focuses on the budding relationship between Wallace, the author of “Infinite Jest,” and Rolling Stone reporter David Lipsky, played by Jesse Eisenberg (“The Social Network”).

Lipsky joined the author who committed suicide in 2008 on a 5-day promotional book tour in 1996. The film is based on Lipsky’s book about the experience, “Although Of Course You End Up Becoming Yourself: A Road Trip with David Foster Wallace,” and was written by Donald Margulies.

“The End of the Tour,” co-starring  Joan Cusack, Anna Chlumsky, Mamie Gummer and Mickey Sumner, hits theaters on July 31.
