Jay-Z Announces New Album ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’ During Samsung Spot (Video)

At least the album title does not place impossible expectations on Sean Carter's new music…

Has Samsung essentially given up on selling its Galaxy phone based on its mobile merits?

Sunday night during the NBA Finals, the company deeply buried an advertisement in a three-minute long commercial for Jay-Z and friends to announce his new album, "Magna Carta Holy Grail."

The video shows Mr. Carter, Pharrell, Rick Rubin and co. listening to beats, debating the Internet's new roles, blowing out speakers and discussing the album, Picassos and more.

One might be thinking, "Isn't Jay-Z retired from rapping?" Ah well, either way the album will drop on Independence Day — and who can quarrel over the American dream?

Samsung has agreed to purchase one million copies of "Magna Carta Holy Grail" and distribute them days before the album's July 4 release to users of the Samsung Galaxy S III, Galaxy S 4, and Galaxy Note II. That mean's "Magna Carta Holy Grail" had already gone platinum before it was announced.

If you want a sneak preview of the new album — or you've always wanted to see behind-the-scenes footage of Rick Rubin napping — here's the commercial:
