Turner taps Matteson to run its communications team and Misty Skedgell chief company spokesperson

Turner Broadcasting appointed a new top publicist on Thursday.

Jeff Matteson was named to the newly created role of senior vice president and strategic communications officer. He will be in charge of strategy and operations across the Turner portfolio of networks and businesses. Matteson most recently was senior vice president of communications for Turner Broadcasting.

The company also tapped Misty Skedgell to replace Matteson as Turner's senior VP of corporate communications. Skedgell, who will report to Matteson, will be the company's chief spokesperson, responsible for all internal and external corporate messaging.

Skedgell previously was VP of corporate communications and corporate responsibility for Turner Broadcasting.

Turner's pair of PR promotions was announced by executive VP Kelly Regal, to whom Matteson reports. Regal described Matteson and Skedgell as "collaborative, knowledgeable, respected senior members of what is in my view the best communications team in media."
