Jeffrey Shell, NBCUniversal International President, Named for Administration Post

President Obama will nominate NBCUniversal President Jeffrey Shell to chair Broadcasting Board of Governors

Jeffrey Shell, president of NBCUniversal International, will be nominated by President Obama to the post of chairman of the Broadcasting Board of Governors.

NBCUniversal confirmed Wednesday that Shell would be named to head the independent federal agency that oversees U.S. government non-military international broadcasting.

Shell currently serves on the board of the National Constitution Center.

He was named president of NBCUniversal International last year, after serving 6 years as president of the Comcast Programming Group. He was CEO of Gemstar TV Guide International and President of FOX Cable Networks Group.

He was one of seven individuals nominated Wednesday by the White House for various administration posts.

“I am grateful these accomplished men and women have agreed to join this Administration, and I’m confident they will serve ably in these important roles. I look forward to working with them in the months and years ahead,” Obama said in the statement.
