Jenna Hager Bush Interviews President Obama About Fatherhood

“When you’re on your death bed, that’s the stuff you’re going to remember”

Presidential daughter Jenna Hager Bush interviewed President Obama in honor of Father’s Day, and the president joked that he relies on the Secret Service to keep his daughters out of trouble.

Bush, the daughter of President George W. Bush, spoke to the president for a “Today” interview airing Thursday. She asked him if being president was harder than being the father of 13- and 15-year-old girls.

“Well, as you know from experience — and you may have chafed under this a little bit — they do have a Secret Service detail,” he said.

He also said he urges fathers to spend lots of time with their children when they’re young.

“Number one, it goes by quick,” he said. “Number two — don’t just spend time with your kids because it’s good for the kids; understand that there’s nothing that’s gonna be more precious in your life, and you are gonna savor every memory. And when you’re on your death bed, that’s the stuff you’re going to remember — you holding hands with your daughter.”
