Jennifer Caserta Named IFC President and General Manager

The move comes after Evan Shapiro left earlier this month to head Participant Media's television division

AMC Networks has looked within its own ranks and promoted Jennifer Caserta to IFC president and general manager.

The veteran executive will resume her new duties immediately, the company said Monday.

The move comes after Evan Shapiro stepped down as IFC TV and Sundance Channel president earlier in April to become head of Participant Media's new television division.

The company does not plan to replace Shapiro with a new executive who would oversee both networks.

Caserta had been executive vice president and general manager. She is based in the company’s headquarters in New York City and will report to AMC Networks’ Chief Operating Officer Ed Carroll.

Caserta has helped oversee many of IFC's buzziest shows as the company has expanded its original programming offerings. Among the programs she has played a role in bringing about are the avant-garde comedy "Portlandia," the fish-out-of-water show "The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret" and the Onion News Network.

“Jen has been a tremendous asset to the network, leading IFC’s successful rebrand and its transition last year to an ad supported model, and implementing an original programming strategy that’s resonating with viewers," Carroll said in a statement. "IFC’s distinct brand and focus on original, off-kilter comedies has positioned it extremely well among viewers, advertisers and affiliates.”
