Jennifer Lawrence and ‘Pretty Little Liars’ Dominate First Wave of Teen Choice Awards Nominations

“The Vampire Diaries” ties the ABC Family drama for most nominations on the TV side with five each

It’s the battle of the YA heroines in the first wave of Teen Choice Awards Nominations, announced Tuesday by Fox.

Jennifer Lawrence and Shailene Woodley both scored multiple nominations for multiple films, while on the TV side, it’s vampires versus vicious high school girls as “The Vampire Diaries” and “Pretty Little Liars” dominated the nominations with five each.

Lawrence, a previous winner for “The Hunger Games,” is nominated for the franchise sequel “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” in Best Actress: Sci-Fi/Fantasy while also picking up a Best Actress: Drama nomination for her Oscar-nominated role in “American Hustle.” Woodley, for her part, is nominated for “Divergent” in Best Actress: Action and also “The Fault in Our Stars” in Best Actress: Drama.

With their male co-stars and respective films also picking up numerous nominations, the two leading ladies seem poised to dominate the teen market for the foreseeable future. Aside from going up against each other in the Drama category, Woodley and Lawrence also have competition from Kristen Bell for “Veronica Mars,” Sandra Bullock for “Gravity” and Emma Watson for “Noah.”

“Pretty Little Liars,” which also picked up three acting nominations, is up against “Switched at Birth,” “Hart of Dixie,” “The Fosters” and “Twisted” for Best TV Drama. “The Vampire Diaries,” in the Fantasy/Sci-fi category, is up against “Arrow,” “Once Upon a Time,” “Sleepy Hollow” and “Teen Wolf.”

Starting today, fans ages 13-19 can vote once each day per category for their favorite nominees at www.teenchoiceawards.com.
