MTV: No Plans to Recast ‘Jersey Shore’

Network shoots down reports. Besides, how could it find anyone else to GTL for less than $100K an episode?

MTV says it has no plans to recast "Jersey Shore," despite reports that its current fist-pumpers are on their way out.

Us Weekly and TMZ report that the show plans to replace the hard-drinking, deep-tanned housemates after the fifth season of the show, which begins shooting Monday.

But MTV says it isn't so.

"We love the present cast, and their summer adventures have just begun.
We currently have no plans to recast the show," a network spokesperson told TheWrap.

The show wouldn't have much trouble finding a new batch of big personalities willing to party and go to the gym for less than the $100,000 each cast member now reportedly makes per episode.

But the cast has been through this kind of speculation before: A report last year said they would be repaced for the third season, and all somehow lived to bar-fight another day.

And even if they were replaced, MTV already has spin-offs planned for the show's breakout stars, including Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, Jenni "J-Woww" Farley, Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino, and Paul "DJ Pauly D" DelVecchio.

The show's fourth season, which finds the whole gang transplanted to Italy, debuts Thursday, Aug. 4, at 10 p.m.
