Joan Jett and the Blackhearts Announce First New Album in Nearly a Decade

The first single off "Unvarnished" will make its television debut on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" on Aug. 8

Joan Jett announced Thursday — which was officially proclaimed "Joan Jett Day" in West Hollywood — that she will be releasing her first new music in more than seven years.

The announcement took place at the Sunset Strip Music Festival.

The singer also said that the new album's first single will make its television debut on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" on Aug. 8

Joan Jett and the Blackhearts' new album of all original music, "Unvarnished," will be released Oct. 1 on the Blackheart Records label.

The album features 10 original tracks and a deluxe edition will include four bonus tracks. The first single, "Any Weather," will be available Aug. 6 via iTunes preorder.
