A new trailer for Spike Jonze’s “Her” shows how two actual women in the life of Joaquin Phoenix‘s character react to the news that he’s dating a computer.
Amy Adams plays a friendly acquaintance of Phoenix — a lonely, divorced writer. She is surprisingly accepting of his relationship with his operating system, Samantha, voiced by Scarlett Johansson. Rooney Mara plays his ex-wife, and she’s not nearly as cool with it.

“You always wanted to have a wife without the challenges of actually dealing with anything real,” Mara says in the video (above). “I’m glad that you found someone.”
What a buzzkill.
“Her” opens in limited release on Dec. 18 before expanding wide on Jan. 10.
