Oh boy!
"Twilight" stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner are getting a few more playmates, as Summit has announced a plethora of castings for "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn." They include:
Tracey Heggins and Judi Shekoni will play Senna and Zafrina, respectively, of The Amazon Coven, an ancient tribe that has lived outside of civilization for centuries and therefore make no attempt to keep up a human facade. While they do drink human blood, the Amazons are long-time allies of Carlisle.
Joing Rami Malek in The Egyptian Coven are Omar Metwally, Andrea Gabriel and Angela Sarafyan as Amun, Kebi and Tia, respectively. While this clan is not technically a biological family, they could pass for one, and its leader, Amun, is very protective of his brethren, as he fears Aro.
Marlane Barnes, Lisa Howard and Patrick Brennan have been cast as The Irish Coven's Maggie, Siobhan and Liam, respectively.
This relatively young group is not vegetarian but they are civilized, and although Siobhan and Liam founded the coven, Maggie's talent has made her an important element of it.
The Romanian Coven is comprised of Noel Fisher as Vladimir and Guri Weinberg as Stefan. They used to be the ruling vampire family before the Volturi dethroned them. As a result, the Romanians harbor a centuries-old resentment of The Italian Coven.
Lee Pace's Garrett leads The American Nomads, who also include Toni Trucks and Bill Tangradi as nomadic vampires Mary and Randall, and Erik Odom and Valorie Curry as Peter and Charlotte, nomadic vampires who are also involved romantically.
"The Crazies" star Joe Anderson will play Alistair, a nomadic vampire from England who doesn't trust authority figures.
I don't have too much to say about this massive announcement, mainly because I'm not particularly well-versed in the "Twilight" mythology. That said, the three actors in the headline were highlighted for a reason — I know and like all of them.
Joe Anderson showed promise in Anton Corbijn's "Control," and he definitely stole the show as Timothy Olyphant's deputy in "The Crazies." Omar Metwally is best known for his role in Steven Spielberg's "Munich," but what really made me sit up and take notice was his performance as Reese Witherspoon's detained husband in Gavin Hood's "Rendition." He'll soon be seen opposite Freida Pinto in Julian Schnabel's "Miral."
However, the real find here is Noel Fisher, a talented young actor who has been working steadily for the past decade. He had early roles in "Final Destination 2" and "Agent Cody Banks" and starred on FX's "The Riches." He has a ton of TV experience but he didn't really land on Deal Central's radar until his impressive performance as a teen bully opposite Brian Cox in the indie thriller "Red." Fisher next stars in Jonathan Liebesman's highly-anticipated alien invasion flick "Battle: Los Angeles," and is someone we will likely be hearing much more about in the future.
Bill Condon is directing the two-part "Twilight" sequel, which is set to begin production in November.
The first film will be released on Nov. 18, 2011, while the series' denouement will arrive in theaters on Nov. 16, 2012.
