Joe Biden Super PAC to Air Emotional Ad Urging VP to Run During First Democratic Debate (Video)

Draft Biden’s six-figure media buy is scheduled to run nationally on Oct. 13

Vice President Joe Biden has yet to decide whether or not he’s running for president, but one Super PAC is hoping he does.

The “Draft Biden” group is planning a six-figure ad buy encouraging him throw his hat into the ring for national placement on cable TV during the first Democratic debate in Las Vegas next week. Biden will not be taking part in the Oct. 13 event, though the rules allow him to declare his candidacy as late as the day of the debate in order to participate.

The 90-second spot, titled “My Redemption,” features old photos of Biden with his first wife Neilia, current wife Jill Biden and his children, and his first Senate election campaign. The spot also includes a voiceover from Biden’s commencement speech at Yale University Class Day earlier this year, just days before his son Beau died of brain cancer.

In the speech, Biden describes the fateful phone call he got in 1972 telling him his his wife and daughter were killed in a car accident. His two sons were in critical condition.

The ad ends simply with the words “Joe, run.”

Biden has been surging in the polls in recent weeks, placing right behind Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.

The first Democratic presidential debate from Las Vegas will air at 6 p.m. PT on CNN.
