Joel Silver Prepares for ‘World War X’ at Warner Bros.

Colin Trevorrow’s script follows a man who must stop a time-traveling terrorist from reshaping history

Warner Bros. has purchased Colin Trevorrow's script "World War X" and set the project up at Silver Pictures, reports Variety.

The story follows a man who is recruited by a team of government agents to stop a terrorist from the future who is using time travel to reshape history.

Hopefully this terrorist hops in a DeLorean and tells LeBron James to sign with Chicago or stay in Cleveland, and advises Will Smith to stay away from Bible adaptations involving vampires.

Joel Silver and Andrew Rona will produce, while Chris Bender, JC Spink, Alex Heineman and Jake Weiner will exec produce.

Heineman and Sean Finegan brought "World War X" to WB, whose Sarah Schechter and John Ridley will oversee the project for the studio.

Trevorrow is familiar with the time travel genre, as he previously wrote an action script titled "Stealing Time" that was set up at Columbia with Walt Becker attached to direct. That story followed three generations of men who embark on a quest to uncover the secrets of an ancient device which may be the key to making time travel possible.

Additonally, Trevorrow and Derek Connolly recently sold an action comedy pitch to Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald.

Silver has a trio of thrillers coming out soon through his other production company, Dark Castle, including "The Factory" with John Cusack, "Unknown White Male" with Liam Neeson and "The Apparition" with "Twilight" star Ashley Greene. Silver is also behind the Todd Phillips-produced comedy "Project X" and Guy Ritchie's upcoming "Sherlock Holmes" sequel.

Trevorrow is represented by ICM and 3 Arts.
