‘Joey Mac Project’ Adds Katie Wee as Series Regular (Exclusive)

Sitcom starring New Kids on the Block singer Joey McIntyre ordered to series on Pop

Pop’s newest sitcom “The Joey Mac Project,” starring New Kids on the Block singer Joey McIntyre, has added Katie Wee as a new series regular, TheWrap has learned.

The scripted comedy, based on McIntyre’s real life, will see the actor play a former boy-band singer trying to transition to a career in acting. Instead, he’s offered the gig of hosting a late night talk show.

Wee will play the role of Paige, the head of development at the Comfort Channel, and the network president’s second in command. Paige is described as perky, driven and duplicitous. Ambitious to a fault, she knows what she wants and how to get it. Very hands-on with the show’s development, she’s take-charge and take-over at times.

The series also stars McIntyre’s former New Kids On The Block bandmate Donnie Wahlberg, who also executive produces the show along with McIntyre, Jenny McCarthy and Tim Gibbons.

“The Joey Mac Project” has been in development for more than a year, and the network ordered it to series with an eight-episode first season in July.

Wee, previously seen on shows like “The League” and “The Client List,” is represented by A10 Management, Innovative Artists and Ginsburg Daniels.
