Prolific tweeter John Cusack maybe did not unleash the wrath of Satan, but he did at least annoy Fox News.
It started with a tweet Sunday night in which the actor wrote his 209,000 Twitter followers in all caps: "I am for a satanic death cult center at Fox News HQ and outside the offices of Dick Armey and Newt Gingrich — and all the GOP welfare freaks."
Cusack, known to be politically minded, sent the tweet in response to a follower who wanted to know if the actor supported the controversial Islamic center proposed near the World Trade Center site.
Fox News responded in a news article posted on its website that classifies Cusack's sarcastic missive as "the first known time he has stooped to the level of making threats."
“His provocative tweets could easily incite a rabid fan to commit violent acts against Fox News Headquarters and others he names," Beverly Hills psychiatrist Dr. Carole Lieberman, is quoted in the online story as saying.
For his part, Cusack doesn't seem to be backing down judging by his Twitter feed Tuesday afternoon, throwing his support behind a "celebrity death cult center."
Examples (unedited):
"hope twipolice tell me what' sok comming out myown little twi-feed….no jokes no CAPS– no tonaly quesytionabe insights into politcis"
"like when you make most absurd over the top joke- after the 900o th time i was asked about ground zero center- they can't even reprint it"
"without changing context.. am i for or against ? how about a celebrity death cult center? i will join as pennance to the folks who own god"
"and the flag..? i know were not supposed to make jokes about anything – now that america has turned back to the lord.."
Cusack will portray a serial killer in an upcoming project, Fox News helpfully points out (but reported by TheWrap last week).
