JoJo Says Music Industry Pressured Her to Use Weight-Loss Injections as a Teen (Video)

“Leave (Get Out)” songstress ate just 500 calories a day

Singer JoJo recently revealed that in her later teenage years she was pressured to lose weight fast, and she resorted to injections and limiting food intake to just 500 calories a day.

“Here’s something that I agreed to do that ended up really messing with me psychologically,” the “Leave (Get Out)” singer told PopSugar. “I was under a lot of pressure from a company that I was previously working with — and they wanted me to lose weight fast.”

She continued, “So they got me with a nutritionist and had me on all these supplements, and I was injecting myself — this is a common thing that girls do by the way — ‘the girls,’ or whatever — and it makes your body only need certain calories, so I ate 500 calories a day. This was the most unhealthy thing I’d ever done.”

“And then I gained all the weight back. I felt terrible about myself,” she said. “And I was upset that I even subscribed to the standard that they wanted me to be at.”
