Jon Cryer Takes (Subtle) Aim at Charlie Sheen at Comedy Awards

Sheen’s former “Two and a Half Men” co-star notes the importance for an actor to “stay out of the public eye; also, Tina Fey and Zach Galifianakis win the new award show’s biggest prizes

Apparently, Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer haven't talked on the phone over the last few weeks to work things out.

Presenting trophies Saturday at Viacom's inaugral Comedy Awards in New York, Cryer got in what appeared to be a few subtle digs at his former "Two and a Half Men" co-star, who called him a troll earlier this month.

Perhaps referencing Sheen's whirlwind media tour, Cryer at one point noted, "It's important for an actor to keep out of the public eye," before adding, "Luckily, a lot of talented people are working on shows that are still in production."

Beyond Cryer's rather tame zingers, however, there was award show that went on.

According to Associated Press, Alec Baldwin ("30 Rock") and Kristen Wiig ("Saturday Night Live") won the top awards for TV comedy actor and actress, while Tina Fey ("Date Night") and Zach Galifianakis ("Dinner for Schmucks") won leading actor honors for film.

ABC's "Modern Family" won the best TV series prize, while Will Ferrell/Mark Wahlberg movie "The Other Guys" took the trophy for best funny film.

Perhaps not surprisingly, Viacom's Comedy Central network was well-represented at the awards, with "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" winning the late-night trophy, "South Park" getting the animation prize, and channel regulars Louis C.K. and Daniel Tosh collecting individual honors.

Lifetime honors-wise, Eddie Murphy was fetted with the "Comedy Icon" award, while David Letterman received the Johnny Carson Award for Comedic Excellence.

The Comedy Awards will air April 10 on Comedy Central, was well as other Viacom-owned channels, including VH1, TV Land and Nick at Nite.
