Joseph Ianniello Named Chief Operating Officer of CBS

Ianniello previously served as the company's CFO

Joseph Ianniello has been promoted to chief operating officer of CBS Corporation, the media company said Wednesday.

He previously served in the upper echelons of the company's corporate structure, most recently as its chief financial officer. CBS said the promotion comes with a five-year deal to continue at the company.

In his new role, Ianniello will oversee CBS' financial operations and negotiate deals on its streaming content, retransmission fees and other revenue sources for the country's highest-rated network.

He will be based in both New York and Los Angeles.

“Joe’s role in CBS’s success these past several years has been extraordinary,” CBS Chief Executive Officer Leslie Moonves said in a statement. “He’s been a game-changing CFO, but he’s also so much more than that. He is a tough negotiator, a great manager, and someone who brings energy, passion and a great sense of teamwork to anything he does."

Ianniello was named CFO  in 2009 and has had a number of top posts in finance and development with the company. He has been with CBS since before it separated from Viacom in 2005.
