Media Rights Capital (“Elysium”) has acquired an action-thriller from “Halt & Catch Fire” writers Christopher Cantwell and Christopher C. Rodgers that comes with Joseph Kosinski (Tron: Legacy”) attached to direct, an individual familiar with the project has told TheWrap.
Kosinski’s most recent film, the Tom Cruise vehicle “Oblivion,” grossed $286 million worldwide. Like “Oblivion,” Kosinski came up with the idea for this new untitled project.
Verve represents Kosinski and the two writers, making this the agency’s second major sale in recent days, following the $1.2 million sale of Aaron Berg’s spec script “Section 6” to Universal.
Kosinski has been developing a “Twilight Zone” movie for Warner Bros. and a “Tron” sequel for Disney, as well as “Archangels” for New Regency and Ridley Scott’s Scott Free banner.
Cantwell and Rodger’s “Halt & Catch Fire” is an upcoming AMC series that stars Lee Pace, Scoot McNairy, Kerry Bishe and rising actress Mackenzie Davis. The duo, who are also repped by Management 360, previously wrote “Shadow Runner” for Sony.
