FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
THEWRAP HIRES AP EDITOR JOSH DICKEY AS TOP EDITOR
AND FORMER LA WEEKLY EDITOR STEVEN MIKULAN AS COLUMNIST
Dickey and Mikulan Join TheWrap’s Recent Additions of
Veteran Journalists Steve Pond and Josef Adalian
LOS ANGELES (October 19, 2009) – TheWrap (www.TheWrap.com), Hollywood’s fastest growing source for business news, analysis and insightful reporting, is pleased to announced that Josh Dickey, former Entertainment Editor at the Associated Press, will become the Deputy Editor effective October 26.
In addition, Los Angeles media icon Steven Mikulan, a former LA Weekly Editor and writer, has joined TheWrap as the voice of the “LA Noir” blog.
The additions of Dickey and Mikulan follow the recent engagement of veteran reporters Steve Pond and Josef Adalian, bolstering TheWrap’s already talent-rich roster of award-winning journalists.
As Deputy Editor, Dickey will work alongside Editor in Chief Sharon Waxman and Managing Editor Lew Harris in shaping and guiding the news coverage of TheWrap.
“Josh is a formidable young talent, a star reporter and editor in the AP constellation and we cannot be more excited about his joining TheWrap,” said Waxman. “He is a perfect fit for our team.”
“It took about two minutes of listening to Sharon talk about her vision for TheWrap for me to realize I'd come to the right place,” added Dickey. “What they've accomplished already is nothing short of astounding, and I'm thrilled and honored to be a part of what's ahead.”
Mikulan will serve as a featured columnist with the “LA Noir” blog, covering the intersection of celebrity, crime, local media, politics and the entertainment industry.
Dickey’s extensive experience at the AP is highlighted by ten years with the news service giant, in which he steered the entertainment coverage from a features-driven approach to more news-driven reporting.
Formerly one of the most widely read writers at the LA Weekly, Mikulan has covered everything from theater reviewing to monitoring and reporting city and national politics, as well as high-profile criminal and celebrity trials. In 1990 he won the George Jean Nathan Award for Dramatic Criticism.
Regarding Mikulan, Waxman said, “Steve is a legend in the LA media community,” said Waxman. “He is a rare breed – a gifted reporter and a dream of a writer. We are lucky to have him.”
