Judge Judy's Advice to Judge Joe Brown: 'Stay Sober'

Former TV bench-sitter Brown was arrested for contempt of court last month after allegedly yelling at a juvenile-court magistrate

Judge Judy Sheindlin apparently thinks Joe Brown should take the phrase “sober as a judge” to heart.

Sheindlin, who presides over the popular daytime court show “Judge Judy,” offered a bit of advice for Brown — the former televised bench-sitter on the daytime court show “Judge Joe Brown” — regarding his recent legal woes, when approached by TMZ on Wednesday night.

It seems that Sheindlin might believe that Brown has been pounding drinks instead of gavels recently.

“Stay sober,”  Sheindlin offered, when asked if she had any words for Brown.

Brown, whose show went off the air last year, found himself on the wrong side of the law in March, when he was sentenced to five days in jail for contempt of court.

Brown, 66, was arrested after allegedly yelling at a juvenile-court magistrate in Tennessee, complaining about delays.

Brown — who's currently running for Shelby County, Tenn., district attorney — showed up at the courthouse and worked the crowd for votes before dropping into a courtroom where a child support hearing was taking place, sitting in the courtroom for approximately 20 minutes before allegedly haranguing the magistrate.
