‘Judge Judy’ Lays Down The Law on ‘Oprah’

Judith Sheindlin’s courtroom series was the top-rated daytime show last season, knocking ‘Oprah’ out of the top spot

According to the Associated Press, the syndicated courtroom show "Judge Judy" outranked "Oprah" as the number one daytime show last season.

"Judge Judy" averaged 6.3 million viewers a day, compared to an average audience of 5.7 million for "Oprah." It was the first time "Oprah" was out of the top spot in over a decade. Last season of "Oprah" included more re-runs than usual, which was one possible reason for the upset.

"Oprah" is currently in season 25, which will be the show's final run. "Judge Judy" is in its fifteenth year and has been renewed through 2013.
