Julia Ormond is the mom of steel.
Director Zack Snyder has offered the "Temple Grandin" actress the role of Superman's mother in "Man of Steel," TheWrap has confirmed.
Ormond will play Superman's biological mother, Lara — the one on Krypton. Superman's adoptive mom here on Earth, Martha Kent, will be played by Diane Lane. As for father figures: Russell Crowe is Jor-el on Krypton (Ormond's spouse, in other words) and Kevin Costner is Jonathan Kent on Earth.

Henry Cavill will play the Man of Steel.
Amy Adams plays Lois Lane.
Charles Roven, Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Deborah Snyder are producing. The screenplay is being written by David S. Goyer based on a story by Goyer and Nolan.
