“We are ridiculously excited to have Kate McKinnon and Kumail Nanjiani hosting the Spirit Awards this year,” Welsh said in a statement. “They are two of the smartest, funniest human beings on the planet and I can’t wait to see what creative mayhem they bring to the show in February.”
McKinnon currently stars on the 41st season of “Saturday Night Live,” where she joined the cast in 2012. She will also star in the upcoming films “Ghostbusters” and “Masterminds.” She voiced characters for the upcoming film, “Angry Birds” and animated series such as “The Simpsons” and “Family Guy.”
Nanjiani currently stars on HBO’s “Silicon Valley,” which won a TV Critics Choice Award for Best Comedy Series and has received several Emmy and Golden Globe nominations.
