Katy Perry’s ‘Roar’ Sales Set to Top ‘Firework’ for Career Record-Breaker (Video)

The single's debut will mark the highest sales week of her career

Katy Perry is about to roar to the top of the music sales charts with the first single of her new album, "Roar," which is set to sell between 525,000 and 550,000 copies.

If the tracking is right, it'll be Perry's best single sales week ever. Her previous record, for 2010's "Firework," was 509,000, Billboard reported. Perry already tweeted on Monday that "Roar" was her biggest iTunes sales debut ever.

Also debuting this week is Lady Gaga's single, "Applause." Despite the pre-release hype of a brewing Twitter feud with Perez Hilton, however, its sales are estimated to be just half that of Perry's.

"Roar" is the first single off Perry's upcoming album, "Prism." Both the song and its music video have drawn criticism for closely resembling those of Sara Bareilles' "Brave" and Dillon Francis's "Messages," respectively.
