Kelly Osbourne Addresses ‘Fashion Police’ Exit on ‘The Talk’ (Video)

“I want to try new things,” the TV personality said on her mother’s daytime talk show

Kelly Osbourne made her first public appearance since quitting “Fashion Police” during “The Talk” this week, and opened up about her decision to leave the E! show.

Unfortunately for those hoping Kelly would share some dirt on the situation with her mother, Sharon Osbourne, sitting at her side on the CBS daytime talk show, she didn’t open up much.

“You know what, it was the five best working years of my life. I am so grateful for the experience,” Kelly said on Tuesday’s episode. “Working with Joan Rivers for five years was incredible. I learned so much, and I’m excited for my future now. I want to try new things.”

Osbourne’s exit came after co-host Giuliana Rancic landed in hot water for making comments about actress Zendaya’s hairstyle at the Oscars last month. Rancic said it looked like it “smelled of patchouli oil and weed,” a comment that offended both Zendaya and Kelly.

TheWrap exclusively reported last week that Rancic’s comment was not only scripted, but edited, too.

A script TheWrap obtained from the episode shows the full context of the joke, and what was omitted in the editing process. (Note: The bracketed and underlined text below was edited out before broadcast.)

“I love Zendaya’s style and I love when she has the little hair, she just had it. She has such a tiny frame that this hair to me overwhelms her, it’s really heavy it overwhelms her [and it’s just like too Boho. Zendaya is more high fashion. The hair to me, on her, is making her a little boho] like I feel like she smells like patchouli oil and weed.”

A show insider told TheWrap that while Giuliana was saying the edited out lines during taping, she is seen flashing the peace sign on both hands, clearly indicating a reference to a hippie remark.

Co-host Kathy Griffin interrupted Rancic before she could add the written kicker: “Is she going on tour with The Grateful Dead this summer?”

Watch Kelly ignore the incident that led to her departure during her appearance on “The Talk.”
