Kevin Bacon Makes Epic 'Footloose' Entrance on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' (Video)

Dancing on the NBC late night show illegal? Not on Ren McCormack's watch

Kevin Bacon knows how to make an entrance.

The star of Fox's “The Following” guested on Friday's “Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” ironically on the same day that the NBC program banned dancing. ”It's a bummer, but rules are rules,” Fallon said to a booing audience.

In another coincidence, this year happens to be the 30th anniversary of one of the films that made the actor famous, “Footloose” — and the guy who played Ren McCormack was not about to follow the law … again.

“Dancing is illegal? Jumpback. This is ‘The Tonight Show’ — there has to be dancing,” the actor said as he popped a cassette tape into his dressing room cassette player, which apparently “Tonight” still has in the green room.

Bacon — and a body double — then copied his moves from the 1984 small town classic film. The surprisingly rhythmic staff of “The Tonight Show” (clearly professional dancers) — and ultimately the host — joined in.

“I hereby proclaim that dancing is now legal here on ‘The Tonight Show’ thanks to Kevin Bacon!” Fallon said as confetti fell.

I remember going to the drive in and watching footloose when I was a kid. My mother rest her soul loved the movie and us kids had better been on our best behavior while ole Kevin was dancing. Oh the memories!

  • Honey Badger Don't Care

Jimmy Fallon is stuck in the 80's. Get with the times Fallon. Most of your audience wasn't even born yet. They don't get any of these stupid 80s pop culture references you do all the time.

    • lives4music

Most of his audience obviously has more knowledge of past musical and pop culture references then you do then. Everyone I follow on twitter in their 20's and 30's have absolutely loved this and all of Fallon's stuff.

      • Honey Badger Don't Care

Really? So like the mind numbing nonsense that goes on? I bet you laugh your ass when he smashes eggs on his head, or throws glasses of water on people.

    • LL

Who doesn't know Footloose? They even remade it into a modern version. I wasn't born when the film was released, nor when Billy Joel was popular.. but some things stand the test of time. Which is why Jimmy's references are still funny.

      • Honey Badger Don't Care

So you like when Jimmy ruins a Billy Joel song by acting like a gorilla onstage?

        • LL

Ruined? Look at the facial expressions of Joel and his band, listen to their conversation where he states he delayed a concert just to sing songs with Jimmy backstage. If he enjoyed himself so can you.

        • Sean Denninger

Holy crap, if you can't take a joke, or a laugh, or a spin, a pun, or any type of fun- don't watch the tonight show!

    • moleculethecat

I think JImmy Fallon is enormously talented. He's funny, he can sing, play guitar and the dude can dance. My pet (my human) who is 22yo, also thinks Fallon is cool. And President Vlad (The Impaler) Putin doesn't like Fallon so that gets him extra points. Bad badger…stop ur snarling.

  • revlis20

Fallon starting to act too much like Conan!
and we all know what happened to him….

    • HereAfter Now

he has a very successful show on TBS right now. The most watched Late night show online next to Conan and Colbert. (which is really the most important demographic nowadays isn't it) cause the youth watching online will be the ones watching in the future

  • MAEM

    Still got it KB!

Kevin Bacon will NEVER escape the Footloose movie references… and I'm glad. I loved it as a child, and this clip gave me a nice, nostalgic feeling!

    God, I love Kevin Bacon!

  • Bonnie Bannon

Dancing is so good for your soul. The rhythm in the music moves you to the beat, the melody, the drums. It takes you to s peaceful place. Your body is smiling with contentment. Bonnie
