Kevin Bacon’s Investigation Takes a Dark Turn on ‘The Following’s’ Season 3 Premiere (Exclusive Video)

Fox’s psychological thriller returns Monday with brand episode “New Blood”

Kevin Bacon finds himself in a killer’s crosshairs when “The Following” returns for its Season 3 debut on Monday.

Tragedy and murder continue to be a recurring motif for his character, FBI agent Ryan Hardy, but much has changed on Fox’s dark psychological drama, which picks up quite some time after antagonist Joe Carroll’s (James Purefoy) capture. Since we saw them last, Ryan’s niece Max Hardy (Jessica Stroup), formerly a detective with the NYPD, joined the FBI and is no longer dating Agent Mike Weston (Shawn Ashmore).

Ryan, meanwhile, is in a very serious relationship and his life has taken a turn for the better. But soon enough he finds himself at a new killer’s mercy. Dead bodies begin to pile up, accompanied by blood-inked messages which taunt him.

In a clip for Monday’s premiere, given exclusively to TheWrap, Weston and the Agents Hardy investigate a creepy house connected to the new string of violent crimes. Once inside, they ascend a stairwell wallpapered with hundreds of blown-up photos of a solitary man.

“The Following” was created by Kevin Williamson (“Scream, “Dawson’s Creek”) and is produced by Outerbanks Entertainment and Warner Bros. TV. Williamson, Marcos Siega, Rebecca Dameron and Michael Stricks are executive producers.

“The Following” returns with the Season 3 debut “New Blood” on Monday at 9 p.m. on Fox.
