Kevin Costner Circling Football Comedy ‘Draft Day’

Kevin Costner is being recruited for Paramount Pictures’ football comedy, “Draft Day,” about an NFL executive on the hunt for top talent

Kevin Costner is being recruited for Paramount Pictures’ football comedy, “Draft Day,” according to an individual familiar with the talks.

Getty ImagesAs previously announced, Ivan Reitman (”Ghostbusters”) is directing and producing the project through The Montecito Picture Company, along with Montecito’s Tom Pollock and Ali Bell.

Rajiv Joseph (“Nurse Jackie”) and Scott Rothman wrote the script.

In "Draft Day," Costner will play the general manager of the NFL Buffalo Bills, who spends his days looking for top players to save his troubled team.

Familiar territory for Costner, who has starred in several sports-themed films including the classic baseball fare "Bull Durham" and "Field of Dreams."  On a roll, Costner's upcoming releases include “Man of Steel" for director Zack Snyder and “Jack Ryan” for Paramount, which is currently filming and will be released on Christmas Day 2013. He has also been nominated for an Emmy for "Hatfields & McCoys."
