Writer-director Matthew Modine has released a trailer for his new short film “Super Sex,” which is set to premiere in the California Dreaming section at the Tribeca Film Festival next month.

Kevin Nealon and Elizabeth Perkins star alongside Ed Asner, Efren Ramirez and Modine’s daughter, Ruby Modine.

Modine’s “Weeds” co-stars Nealon and Perkins play siblings tasked with finding a gift for their dad (Asner). The older man says he has everything he needs, he just wants to be loved. His children set out to provide it in a way they’ve never before imagined — super sex with a young woman dressed as a superhero.

Best known as an actor thanks to his acclaimed turns in Stanley Kubrick‘s “Full Metal Jacket” and Robert Altman‘s “Short Cuts,” Modine is a prolific shorts director whose avant-garde short film “Jesus Was a Commie” won several awards at film festivals around the world, including the Founders Prize for Best Short Film at Michael Moore‘s Traverse City Film Festival.

Modine also directed the short films “I Think I Thought,” “Cowboy” and “To Kill an American,” while three of his other shorts, “When I Was a Boy,” “Smoking” and “Ecce Pirate” debuted at the Sundance Film Festival. Modine’s shorts have screened at domestic and international festivals, including the Museum of Modern Art’s New Directors/New Films.

Modine’s production company, Cinco Dedos Peliculas, is currently co-producing Jen Senko’s political documentary “The Brainwashing of My Dad” and working with two-time Oscar-nominated animator Bill Plympton on several projects including “Revengeance” and “The Loneliest Stoplight” starring Patton Oswalt.

Modine will next be seen alongside Maria Bello and Clive Owen in the indie movie “The Confirmation,” which hits theaters this month. This summer, he’ll co-star in the Netflix series “Stranger Things” opposite Winona Ryder. He has also wrapped the thriller “47 Meters Down” with Mandy Moore and Claire Holt; the British comedy “Hippopotamus,” based on the novel by Stephen Fry; and “Army of One,” which pairs him with Oscar winner Nicolas Cage. Additionally, Modine voiced two characters in “Revengeance,” an animated film collaboration between Plympton and underground animator Jim Lujan.
